The Micro Bob
Short hair is having a moment, and the bob keeps getting shorter. The micro bob sits above the chin, close to the jaw, and it is the cut everyone is noticing after Demi Moore wore hers at the Thom Browne spring/summer 2027 show during New York Fashion Week. If you have ever thought about a big chop, this is the version that makes a statement.
What is a micro bob?

A micro bob is a bob cut well above the chin, usually between the cheekbone and the jaw. It can be blunt and sleek or soft and tousled, but the length is what defines it. It is shorter than a classic chin-length bob and a very different animal from the longer cuts in our soft bob guide.
Micro bob vs the wet-look bob

Demi Moore's earlier chop was a wet-look finish, which you can read about in our Demi Moore wet-look bob post. The micro bob is about length rather than finish. You can wear it slick and glossy, or dry and textured. Same cut, very different moods.
Who does it suit?

It shows off the jaw, neck and cheekbones, so it flatters people with defined features, but a skilled cut can tailor it to most face shapes. Fine and straight hair holds the shape beautifully. Thick or wavy hair can work too, with internal weight removal so it sits neatly. A consultation is the best way to check how your hair will behave at this length.
How to style it

Keep it simple. A sleek blow-dry with a smoothing cream gives the polished look. For something softer, scrunch in a texture spray and let it dry with a little movement. A small clip or a side parting changes the whole feel. If you want a fringe with it, our micro fringe post shows how short can go.
What upkeep to expect

Short shapes need regular trims to stay sharp, usually every four to six weeks. The upside is that styling takes minutes and there is far less length to look after. Growing it out is easy too, and a good cut grows through the in-between stages gracefully. See our tips on styling short hair for everyday ideas.
